According to the press release issued on Jan 6, this appointment will further strengthen Surbana Jurong’s capabilities in providing cutting-edge, resilient and sustainable solutions for the built environment.Cheong brings with her a wealth of experience, having served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Housing and Development Board (HDB) from 2010 to 2020, and before that, as the Chief Executive Officer of the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) from 2004 to 2010. Currently, Cheong is the Chair of the Lee Kuan Yew Centre for Innovative Cities and a Professor of Practice at the Singapore University of Technology and Design. She also holds positions on the boards of the National University of Singapore and CapitaLand Group, and is Singapore’s non-resident ambassador to Finland.Moreover, Cheong is also the Chairman of the Centre for Liveable Cities Advisory Panel under the Ministry of National Development.
